Software Development/ Configuration Specialist

Description:

Enjoy growth and flexibility with a global financial firm. As a mission control specialist, you will manage and execute software deployments into the production environment.

Duties:

o Gaining a full understanding of the EQ trading business and associated trading systems
o Managing daily and weekly change control meetings
o Constructing and reviewing deployment, verification and back-out plans
o Working with Business, MC, QA and AppDev to review risk associated with deployments
o Managing process configurations
o Executing deployments
o Performing capacity and performance planning with AppDev and MC Engineering
o Working with AppDev and QA to enhance the supportability and operability of trading systems and associated tools.
o Team and project management skills
• Responsible for engineering tools development and project execution
o Automating audit, hygiene and cleanup reports and tools
o Automating mundane operations tasks
o Expansion of infrastructure management tools such as Watchdog, Pathfinder etc
o Executing platform engineering evaluations and product bake-offs
• Responsible for NY end-of-day external client support via phone, e-mail, batch monitoring and EOD web site.

Qualifications:

Experience / Skills Required
• Strong verbal (and written) communication skills
• UNIX/Linux background
• One or more of Perl / Java / SQL / C / C++ / .NET / Bourne or ksh programming strongly desirable
• VI or EMACS editor skills
• Experience in database, Sybase preferable
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong time management skills / ability to multi-task
