Nelson Laboratories, Inc. is a contract Microbiology testing lab located in Salt Lake City, Utah. We help the best companies in the world improve the quality of life by providing the highest standard in laboratory testing. We work with some of the top medical device and pharmaceutical companies in the world, including many fortune 500 companies.
We currently have a full-time Software Development Supervisor position available. Hours are Monday- Friday 8-5 with some flexibility.
• Manage IT Development staff and activities.
• Assist IT & QA staff with testing issues.
• Work with a team (QA, IT, IS, Functional Areas) and develop functional specifications and test plans.
• Help define and update software quality assurance strategies and procedures.
• Assist with the design of test plan and cases using documented specifications.
• Test software to identify defects, regulatory concerns, auditability and best practices
• Apply software development best practices in design and code reviews to create better software.
• Maintain a good working relationship with IT, QA Validation and functional areas.

Duties: |
• Supervise Systems Analysts, provide for employee performance goals and evaluations
• Ensure that testing activities will allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
• Collaborate with analysts, developers and system owners in the testing of software applications.
• Evaluate, plan, design, develop, and deploy testing techniques for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles.
• Create and execute test scripts, cases and scenarios that will determine optimal system performance according to specifications.
• Conduct all types of application testing as needed, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
• Coordinate testing with other internal departments and external vendors and business partners.
• Build and deploy applications for different environments for testing and production.
• Analyze formal test results in order to discover and resolve defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues and interoperability flaws.
• Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
• Produce reports and documentation for all testing efforts, results, activities, data, logging, and tracking.
• Liaise with network administrators and software engineers to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing.
• Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.

Qualifications: |
• BS in Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of experience testing software.
• Previous supervisory and/or team leadership experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
This position requires successful completion of a drug test and criminal background check.
