The CodecSys Software Platform—named for "a system of codecs," represents a new generation of video optimization technology. The patented multi-codec compression, open software framework, and robust set of APIs, makes for a seamless integration with core video management systems across the network. The Senior Software Quality Engineer will be an integral part of the Engineering team as we support our current CodecSys product release and for all future software release cycles.
| Duties: | The Senior Software Quality Engineer is responsible for quality assurance of an enterprise level software video encoding system.
Responsibilities
- Continued testing of H264 Video Encoding system
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain test automation for Linux-based encoder servers and the accompanying web-based interface
- Participate in software requirements gathering and design sessions
- Be proactive in continuous improvement of QA processes
- Work effectively with team to ensure project success and champion high quality standards throughout the project
| Qualifications: | Required Experience
- Quality Assurance leadership
- 5+ years of experience testing software systems and using test automation frameworks
- 3+ years of Linux hands on experience (installation, package management, system configuration)
- Experience with testing of Enterprise Level applications -- Performance, Scalability, Compliance
- Ability to accurately estimate work effort for a project, contribute to the development of time lines and manage work to meet the project schedule
- Experience in the setup and maintenance of test environments (networking, Linux system administration, Linux and Windows desktops)
- Must be familiar with audio and video formats (HD, SD, mpeg2, h264, AAC, AC3) and various multimedia playback clients/devices (VLC, Mplayer and Set Top Boxes
- Document defects and track the issue to resolution
- Excellent problem solving and analysis skills, systems thinker, results driven, self-motivated, team skills, ability to work independently, excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experienced with software design and build procedures as well as software life cycle
- Experienced with at least one version control system (SVN preferred)
- Key tools: Linux, Python, Video Encoders, FFMpeg, VLC, MPlayer, HD Set Top Boxes, HD TV Sets, Blu ray DVD Players
- Experienced with bug tracking and test case management systems (Trac and Testlink preferred)
- Experienced with web-based GUIs and multiple browser testing (Firefox, IE)
Preferred Experience
- Experience designing and developing automated test frameworks
- Experience in object-oriented design and development technologies including C, C++, Python, Django
- Experience with Video Encoding systems
- Experience with H264, MPEG2 and MPEG4 compliance specifications
Nice to have Experience
- Ability to create and convert video and audio content in various formats (mpeg2video, raw yuv, raw y4m, h.264, wav, ac3, mp1l2, aac)
- Experience using audio and video conformance analysis tools (Tektronix MTS430, Sencore CMA 1820)
- Python programming experience
- Video and audio encoder development experience
