Position Summary
In this role, you will be a member of the Software Quality Assurance team for our many Enterprise product offerings. As a Senior Software Quality Engineer, you will be contributing to the qualification of these products and the development of QA automation software as required. You will write and maintain test plans and test cases to verify back end applications and should have a solid understanding of the product development lifecycle in an Application Service Provider (ASP) environment. You will participate in project meetings and use leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills to contribute to the quality of the product early in the software development lifecycle. You should have a positive attitude, a passion for quality and a desire to share your experience with team members. |
Duties: |
•Independently creates and owns methods to verify and approve newly developed or modified backend component and systems.
•Participates in product requirements and development sessions using testing approaches and best practices to contribute to design decisions and to ensure seamless integration of new features with current system functionality.
•Develops and owns test plans and test cases and execution including results analysis, cause identification, and reporting.
•Develops back end automation using perl, bash and sql, which can be leveraged for performance testing and regression testing.
•Investigates test database details and recommends ways to improve product functionality, usability, reliability performance and scalability.
•Works independently using engineering practices to evaluate enhance and maintain existing quality methods & processes.
•Makes good technical decisions and completes tasks & assignments under only general direction
•Demonstrates self-initiative and self-motivation and recognizes problems that need further investigation seeking assistance only when needed
•Independently determines and develops approach to solutions for a wide range of technically difficult problems, under only very general direction. |
Qualifications: |
•A Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
•A minimum of five (5) years experience as a Software Test and Quality Assurance Engineer on large scale software systems, applications or computer systems or equivalent is required.
•A minimum of 2 years experience in an Applications Services provider (ASP) environment is a definite plus.
•3 years experience writing and executing Internet technology test plans (including HTTP, HTTPS and TCP/IP) that support web-based, client-facing applications. Specific QA expertise and experience with load and performance testing back end components required.
•Demonstrated knowledge and application of engineering concepts and skills required.
•Proven understanding of software systems, software applications and the process to produce product deliverables required.
•Extensive experience in testing methodologies and theories, test plan and test case development, test execution practices, results analysis, cause identification, and reporting.
•Familiarity with SQA automation tools and the proven ability to learn and apply new tools and processes is required.
•Direct experience in computer programming, scripting and software development required.
•Technical skills should include a strong command of the following:
•Solid working knowledge of UNIX
•Bash / Perl Scripting
•Windows platforms
•SQL
•HTML
•JavaScript
•Windows & UNIX user and administrative experience.
•Experience with white box testing a plus.
•With full product development lifecycle participation, this individual must have the following non-technical skills.
•Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
•A strong understanding of process, detail and follow through
•Strong problem solving and analytical skills
•Ability to multi-task across problem areas and within various contexts
•Ability to work independently and with a team.
•An assertive nature and the ability to work closely with engineers
