_*Job Description*_

We are looking for a mid to senior level Java Web Developer / Software Engineer. The ideal candidate should be able to work well in an n-tier environment and have a leaning, preference and skill set related to front end technologies (modern standards based HTML5, AJAX Frameworks, JavaScript, debugging).

*Required Technical Skills:*

   * Worked in a production n-tier environment (AJAX, Java EE / Oracle)
   * 5+ years of enterprise software development experience
   * Excellent core Java skills (Java 1.5, Java 1.6 features)
   * Enterprise RDBMS (Oracle and/or Sybase)
   * Can at a minimum understand complex SQL queries.
   * Good understanding of object-oriented design patterns
   * Windows XP (develop) / Linux (deploy)

_*Preferred Technical Skills:*_

   * Some familiarty with web technologies: HTML(5), JavaScript, MVC Frameworks including
     Struts1, Struts2. Java EE including Servlets, JSP, and Ajax
     Frameworks (GWT, jQuery) etc. (3-5 years)
   * Knowledge of Java EE standards & frameworks (Sun / Spring or other)
   * JMS
   * Oracle App Development: SQL, PL/SQL, Stored Procedures
   * JDBC, JPA (Hibernate or other)
   * XML related technologies / JSON
   * Extensive experience writing and debugging multi-threaded programming
   * Java build systems (ant / maven)
   * Continuous Integration / Unit & Integration Testing
   * Shell scripting (ksh/bash)

_*Other requirements:*_

   * Strong verbal and written communication skills
   * Organizational and problem resolution skills
   * The profile of a team-player who forms strong relationships with
     colleagues and has good interpersonal skills
   * Ability to deal with changing priorities

_*Preferred attributes:*_

   * Financial services experience and solid understanding of
     securities trading
   * Quantitative formal education (e.g., Mathematics, Physics,
     Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)

_*Typical Day:*_

   * Adding Features / Enhancement requests to a legacy code base
     (multiple web based and server based products)
   * Java Coding / Core development
   * Possible front End Web Development (HTML, JavaScript, JSP, AJAX, Struts1,
     Struts2, Front end layout, possible design)
   * Oracle Database Development (JPA, PL/SQL, Stored Procs, SQL)
   * Fixing bugs (as assigned)

_*Travel:*_

   * Travel to NYC may be required (typically one or two weeks per year)
