Description: |
Work on a unique pediatric research project with an excellent IT team. Programmer will be responsible for designing Java applications according to written specifications and verbal instructions from systems analysts and system architect. Programmer will be developing and implementing a web application for pediatric research and generating predefined reports.
This is a temporary assignment with the University of Utah's UTemps program. The assignment is with the University's Department of Pediatrics, with a projected duration of 4-6 weeks, dayshift.

Qualifications: |
Experienced with full development lifecycle from architectural decisions to system level testing
• Strong knowledge of the java language (e.g. interfaces, abstract classes, class hierarchy and visibility, etc)
• Good object-oriented programming skills in Java, especially Java Server Programming. Java Swing is a plus
• Be efficient in memory management, thread programming and file system i/o handling.
• Have basic understanding of relational database concepts and SQL background.
• Be able to design/implement relational database schemas to handle collected data and its metadata
• Extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS style sheets, JavaScript and AJAX.
• Familiarity with Tomcat 5.x-6.x
• Applicant must have the ability to work in a team as environment as well as independently
Preferences
• BS in Computer Science or related field preferred
• Familiarity with client-server application development and experience with any JDBC package. jTDS or any type 4 driver is a plus
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server 2005
• Experience with Java IDE such as Eclipse, Netbeans or Jbuilder, and revision control software
• Knowledge of Django
