Ancestry is searching for a talented Network Operations Center Analyst to work on a small, high-end team in our Lehi, UT office. You will be responsible for complex problem resolution, creating and improving procedures and facilitating communication. Your role is critical to the success of Ancestry and as such requires both depth and breadth in most of the technologies leveraged in a complex data center environment to support multi-tiered applications. To be successful you will need an understanding of Linux server administration, Amazon Web Services, scripting/automation, and services running on virtualized and containerized platforms.
What You'll Do:Provide support of a large number of Linux systems, databases, and network troubleshooting, and providing various technical solutionsResearch, proof, and author technical documentation that is beneficial to AncestryManage, track, report on Incident cases via our automation tools and ticket tracking systemParticipate in team meetings and team projects as assignedAssist in managing open communication bridges with oncall rotational support groups and executives during outage events or as deemed necessaryAbility to cover other shifts as needed (ie: weekends and holidays)
Who You Are: 2+ years’ experience in a continual, high-availability production environment2+ years Linux System Administration in a complex data center environmentExperience with monitoring, metrics collection, and reportingFamiliarity in deploying Application Server ( .NET, IIS, Java or containers in multi-tier architecture)In depth understanding of TCP/IP LAN/WAN networking technologies and troubleshooting techniques, virtualization technologiesExperience with relational and NoSQL database technologies (MSSQL, MySQL, Cassandra and CouchDB, etc)Experience with hardware or software-based firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection systems and proxy serversA background in scripting and automation, Good knowledge of scripting languages (ie Perl, Python or PHP) Knowledge of salt, chef, puppetAbility to work with minimal supervision, making decisions based upon priorities, schedules, and an understanding of business initiativesCritical attention to detail, thoroughness, and documentationRelevant technical knowledge of an Enterprise Cloud environmentWorking knowledge of Network and Systems operations, service-desk software, monitoring and automationExperience with technology implementations and upgrades, particularly support transition to OperationsExcellent customer service and interpersonal skills and experience training staff accordingly.Demonstrated logical thought processes, must have the ability to quickly learn new technologies, systems, concepts and procedures, and ability to utilize reports and data to improve operational results.Ability to make quick operational decisions and sustain productivity among competing projects and schedules.A solid understanding of the components required to provide high-availability application and networking environment is required.
