Ancestry is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. You will join an impressive team of developers, designers and product managers who have built some of the world's most compelling products, producing the world-wide leader in two categories: family history, and consumer genetic testing.
In this role, you will work in a scrum team focused on web development of Ancestry’s Social & Collaboration space working on the user account and profile platforms. This role includes developing client and server-side services and pages using the latest Java & Node.js frameworks and managing scalable resources using AWS.

What You Will Do:

Develop client-side and server-side applications using the latest Java and NodeJS language features, frameworks, and tooling. Write code and unit tests, document insights, participate in code reviewsBuild applications to leverage the benefits of Amazon Web Services.Performance work including: profiling, time to first byte, browser memory usage, decreasing the overall load time of applications and hitting first meaningful paint. Logging and tuning of server-side applications Practice SOLID software principles, testing practices, metrics and code analysisWork with Product & Engineering Management, Marketing, US, and Research. Interface with and help support offshore backend teams in the Social & Collaboration space.

Who You Are:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science (or strong foundation in CS fundamentals such as design patterns, data structures and algorithms)People and leadership skills5+ years of industry experience Strong Java skills, proficient in NodeJs, AWS experience desirableExperience with REST, JSON, HTTP, SSL, Caching, asynchronous code Experience with CI/CDUsing agile or other rapid application development methods
