We are growing our Data Science team globally. We're looking for a Senior Manager of Data Science Engineering to join our team at our headquarters in beautiful Lehi, Utah. You will manage a group of accomplished data science engineers in both San Francisco and Lehi locations. Reporting directly to the Senior Director or Data Science Engineering, you and your team will build an important, production-ready platform used to build and deploy models to solve our toughest data science challenges.
You will lead the creation of AI-driven solutions using creative methods/technologies, partner with product, platform, marketing, and other partners to identify/prioritize opportunities, create business/technical requirements, and to bring customer value

What you will do...

Lead the team in building production quality, customer-facing, recommendation and search ML services, and its componentsWork with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and partners to understand our needs for our ML-motivated recommendations and search domainsHelp promote a data-driven culture and push long-term value creation through development of outstanding data science capabilitiesHelp pushing for a customer-centric vision for Ancestry across different business products

Who you are...

You demonstrated an ability to manage an experienced, distributed team of engineers at the different stages of their career.10+ years of relevant work experience, out of which at least 3+ years of experience managing technical teamsYou have a collaborative work style that's open to discussion, idea sharing, and feedbackYou have an experience developing customer-facing ML search and recommendation platformYou have knowledge of AWS best practicesExperience building production quality distributed ML systems for applications with a very large number of users, and Service level agreement requirementsExperience working with big data, Spark/databricks and other relevant frameworks is very helpfulYou have industry experience with, and experience of: Java, Python, SQL, Harness, Jenkins, and other tools commonly used in the back-end cloud development and ML infrastructure.Working knowledge or good understanding of computer vision, NLP, search, recommendation and other ML strategiesExperience with ML/Kaggle is not required but gives you an edgeA degree in Computer Science or related technical field from a reputable college/university, or appropriate work experience, is requiredAn interest in family history
