Ancestry is seeking a full time Legal Counsel, to be based in Dublin.  You will be responsible for a wide range of general commercial law matters in support of business operations across all of Ancestry’s global markets, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and Mexico. This role will involve collaborating with various internal commercial stakeholders to advise on applicable laws and develop strategies to mitigate legal risk, as well as contributing your general commercial acumen towards the development of our business. To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong work ethic, be an excellent communicator, be able to build close working relationships, and think laterally.                                                                    This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer wishing to move in-house or transition to a more general commercial role. This role will report to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel, also located in Dublin.

What you will do

Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts; Deal with various international projects associated with online consumer business including consumer law compliance, marketing and advertising laws, terms and conditions and user-generated content issues;Provide cross functional legal support to the Ancestry business across different time zones;Be creative about engaging employees globally on a variety of legal issues, and support projects designed to enhance that creativity and awareness;Perform contract management, corporate governance and sign-off procedures and continue to create appropriate processes, templates and training for our rapidly expanding international business.

Requirements

A lawyer registered to practice in Ireland with 1-2 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience;Strong contract drafting skills and attention to detail;A creative problem solver with ability to work with the wider legal team and across the business to come up with solutions that balance legal risk and commercial goals;Flexibility and a natural curiosity to work on a broad range of legal matters;Able to learn quickly, identify issues and drive projects to completion;Excellent legal analytic and communication skills;Motivated and articulate with a commitment to professionalism and collegiality;Excellent multi-tasking and organisational skills; and Ability to travel occasionally, including to the US as required.
