You will join our team of attorneys that support Ancestry's user-facing product, ad-tech, and content acquisition efforts, and partner directly with the privacy team. You will partner directly with the business, having a meaningful impact on our organization by supplying sound business advice, excellent negotiation and drafting skills, and the experience to identify legal risks to the business and the legal experience to help reduce them.You will help ensure Ancestry's multiple customer-facing products and interfaces meet global legal requirements, facilitate the acquisition of archival records and other content to support Ancestry's subscription services, facilitate integrations with vendors and partners, and create internal processes and policies to maintain compliance and better serve Ancestry customers.Collaboration with legal and business colleagues in a fast-paced environment make communications and judgments in balancing legal risks with strategy indispensable. You should have in-house management, and product and privacy experience.
What You Will Do:
Advise the product teams throughout the product development lifecycle and provide daily and strategic legal advice to help Ancestry build a better product for its customers;Draft, negotiate, and review agreements to acquire assets and provide legal advice to the partners on multiple issues relating to licensing content, scanning, and indexing records;Advise Ancestry's advertising teams in their ongoing development of systems and tools to better reach Ancestry customers;Support the Chief Privacy Officer in matters related to product and privacy intersection and overlap, including the creation of records of data processing and other compliance requirements;Work with other members of the legal team and the business in the pursuit of Ancestry business and legal goals; and,Research, train, and advise company partners on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters including privacy, security, and consumer protection laws.
Who You Are:
JD and top academic credentials;Admission to a State Bar;5+ years of relevant experience;IAPP certification;Knowledge of US and international privacy and data protection laws, regulations, standards;Prior in-house experience with a consumer-facing global company;You have demonstrated the ability to take on big challenges and complex projects and were accountable for the results;Additional Information:
