Job Description

About Portal Warehousing

Portal Warehousing is an industrial co-warehousing company. Portal provides flexible industrial workspaces designed for e-commerce merchants and small businesses that need physical space to operate and grow.

Today, small warehousing space is extremely limited and subpar. 5-year leases, significant security deposits, and the pains of setting up the infrastructure are the norm. And that's if you can even find space in a market with historically low vacancies. Companies with significant revenue and volume are relegated to working out of bedrooms, garages and self-storage facilities.

Portal offers convenience and flexibility that is non-existent today. Our plug-and-play solution includes critical logistics infrastructure like shared dock doors and equipment, programming designed to accelerate growth, and partnerships with technology and logisitcs providers.

Portal let's our members focus on growing their businesses, while we reimagine what a warehouse is.

We just launched our Salt Lake City facility in April and are already 50% full in less than 3 weeks! We're excited to grow into the bustling entrepreneurship scene in SLC.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Director of Operations to oversee and implement the company's operations and procedures as we rapidly grow. You will be an early hire and central to Portal's success. This position has the opportunity to grow into a VP of Operations role.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Design and implement operations for Portal's first two facilities in Salt Lake City and Phoenix
  • Create and establish a scalable and efficient facility launch process
  • Create and manage systems to manage members, vendors, and partners
  • Manage facility level operations teams and create key reporting systems
  • Track and identify expansion opportunities, customer pain points, and churn risks
  • Become a key part of Portal's expansion (fundraising, acquisitions, partnerships)
  • Become a keen, passionate expert in all things related to D2C e-commerce and logistics

Our Ideal Fit:

  • You have had 3+ years of operational leadership experience
  • Similar experience shared-environment company (co-working, co-living, ghost kitchens) is a plus
  • You have a background in Logistics
  • You can hit the ground running; you know exactly the systems, tools and technology to implement
  • You are excited about being a part of a small team building something from the ground up
  • You are open to wearing many hats and have management experience
  • You have experience and working knowledge of D2C e-commerce and have an innate understanding of the massive problem Portal is solving
  • You are open to frequent travel during facility openings, and periodic travel to visit facilities in between
  • You are a self-starter and high-achiever, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight
