Sr. Technical Proposal Specialist

BUSINESS: Refinery Valves - DeltaValve

LOCATION: Sandy, UT

REPORTS TO: Vice President, General Manager

The Senior Technical Proposal Specialist develops proposals to promote, market, and sell DeltaValve and TapcoEnpro products and services (as related to delayed coking, ethylene furnace, FCC equipment, and other refining applications and assigned.) You will conduct proposal preparation and pre-contract technical and commercial data collection. You will lead an organized sales opportunity transfer to operations upon submittal of purchase order acknowledgment to the buyer, and supports other Proposals team members in the transfer process. You will mentor team members, suggesting and implementing process improvements to support a continuous improvement organization and team growth. You will work with the Sandy Proposals team and will report to the Vice President/General Manager.



You Will:

  • Review contractual documents to ensure adherence to company policy, government specifications and requirements, and conformance to master agreements
  • Respond to inquiries regarding contract obligations and revisions
  • Analyze estimates of material, equipment and production cost
  • Maintain an accurate cost sheet for all products and sourcing centers
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation; tracks, monitors, and reports data to support proposal development
  • Review and acknowledge purchase orders
  • Review specifications and other buyer documentation to coordinate all support activities
  • Support work in contract negotiations and bid clarification
  • Be a liaison with all internal departments and department leads to create a comprehensive response to all customer inquiries and Request for Quotations (RFQs)
  • Research historical customer data, costing, program analysis and comparison, and other terms both technical and commercial to implement improvements and manage the proposal process with each customer
  • Ensure all assigned reports and costing in CRM are maintained
  • Implement strategic ways to maintain DeltaValve's competitive advantage
  • Ensure profitability is maintained on each proposal
  • Participate in company sponsored training sessions, sales meetings, and divisional functions
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


You Have:

  • Proficient in business applications, specifically CRM, ERP, and PLM systems – ability to train others in systems
  • Experience working with a sales team to implement a sales plan
  • Strong skillset in Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and Word
  • A motivation for continuous improvement, issue resolution, and personal ownership
  • Knowledge of Proposal processes and best practices
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Industrial Management or Mechanical Engineering required, or a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in an equivalent or related role, working with technical equipment in product analytics, costing, budgeting, quotation preparation, customer service
  • Experience working with a global team and international regions
