Expectations for Success
The manager of the Advanced Analytics team will lead a team of high-performing subject matter experts in the delivery of impactful insights to clients. The Advanced Analytics team is called upon by clients to answer their toughest business questions using cutting-edge research methods and data science. Using smarts and grit, team members are tasked with tackling the toughest questions from the world’s most respected brands. Clients might be a tenured professor, a chief marketing officer, or novice researcher, but all are relying on the team’s creativity and analytical problem solving. The decisions recommended by the team will guide strategic recommendations and inform decisions to make companies wildly successful. You will be successful as you set the vision for this revenue-producing team, setting clear expectations to achieve that success, and expanding the skill sets of our talented data scientists.
A Day in the Life
The manager of the Advanced Analytics team may work independently on projects, hand-in-hand with other team members, or completely delegating projects. Projects from paying clients have a broad range of applications and analytic requirements, but may include some of the following methodologies:
Conjoint or MaxDiff (with various flavors and subtypes)
TURF and KANO algorithms
Experimental design creation
Segmentation, cluster analysis, factor analysis
Predictive modeling (linear, logistic, decision trees, random forests, boosted trees, multinomial regression, Hierarchical Bayes)
As you and the team will be running multiple projects for a variety of clients, the following skills are preferred for the role:
Storytelling with data: designing and communicating results to clients in easily digestible formats
Interfacing with stakeholders of all levels from novice researcher to chief marketing officer
Thinking creatively about methodological approaches and determining the best for client’s objectives
Understanding business perspectives and distilling project goals into attainable pieces
Being a hacker and finding scrappy new ways to achieve results
Requirements
10+ years leadership experience with proven ability to build and lead teams using concrete and measurable results
Advanced degree (Phd or masters) in a quantitative field
Expertise in statistical programming (especially R, but also Python, SAS or SPSS)
Experience in some front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JS)
Experience leading client-facing, data science teams in a high-velocity setting
Experience in market research or management consulting
