Job Summary:

3M Clinical and Economic Research Development in Murray, UT is seeking a highly motivated leader for teams developing software products used internationally to ensure accurate grouping, editing, and reimbursement of health care claims and to improve the quality of health care. Our cross-functional agile/Scrum teams develop a mix Java applications and legacy applications that were looking to redevelop and rearchitect to better suit our customers needs both on premises and in the cloud. If you have leadership skills, relevant technical experience, an urge to automate, and are driven to deliver quality software to customers that can improve patients' lives, we'd love to talk with you.


Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide direct supervision of multiple teams responsible for developing, to including Developers and Quality Assurance.
  • Assist Technical Product Owner for a team working both to deliver HIS grouping content under the existing technology stack while simultaneously architecting and developing the replacement technology stack in a methodical manner.
  • Set technical direction and establish, prioritize and work with the development team to define and update the teams backlog in concert with Tech Leads.
  • Mentor development staff with duties such as analysis, software design, prototyping, coding, debugging, test case creation, test case automation, test case execution, documentation, support, infrastructure maintenance.
  • Champion Agile principles throughout the organization
  • Provides direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training and development, review of progress in achieving objectives, managing employee compensation, performance appraisals, diversity, disability, all relevant employee data, etc. Takes appropriate action to address policy violations. May manage workforce vendors and contracts
  • Participating in relevant corporate programs/initiatives
  • Ensuring professional, quality and security standards are complied with while performing assigned duties
  • Complying with corporate policies and procedures while acting in a manner consistent with 3Ms values and ethical standards


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience in software Development in lieu of the bachelors degree education requirement
  • Ten (10) years software development experience to include 3+ years leadership experience (supervisor, team lead, product owner)


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience CI/CD
  • Experience with Java software development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with SQL and relational database design
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working with distributed team members
  • Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner
  • Ability to direct and influence others


Location: Murray, UT

Travel: Occasional travel may be required

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
