Imagine loving what you do and where you do it. **Job Category** Analytics & Research **Target Openings** 1 **Job Description Summary** As part of the Bond Strategic Data Program Technical Business Analyst team you will work alongside other technical business analysts,software developers and quality assurance team members in an Agile software development environment. In this role you will: - Perform data analysis,working with upstream Agile teams to determine the impact of their changes on the Strategic Data Program data warehouse. - Engage with our Business Intelligence and Analytics partners to elicit new data requirements and translate them into requirement documents for our developer and QA partners. - Become a subject matter expert in Bond & Specialty Insurance data. - Determine root cause for data issues and discrepancies and design corrective measures. - Learn and implement Modern Data Warehousing concepts such as Vault 2.0 **Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities** + Perform requirements gathering,analysis and produce various requirement artifacts for our Developer and QA partners. + Validate Developer's code by producing and verifying expected results. + Validate QA test plans. + Present and translate complex information in relevant business terms. + Work within Travelers standards,processes,and protocols. + Conduct insightful,ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues + Incorporate core data management competencies - data governance,data security,data quality + Meets with business customers to recommend,develop,maintain and prioritize business data requirements and specifications + Leverages knowledge of data models,data relationships,mapping lineage and business rules to ensure that solutions meet operational and business needs + Analyzes medium complexity customer requests (internal or external,e.g. data calls) for changes to production systems,determines impact on existing systems,processes and develops appropriate specifications,enhancements and or procedures to comply + Facilitates the root cause analysis and resolution of business data issues,including proposal and implementation of specification or procedural changes to address issue,working with impacted areas + Demonstrates thorough understanding of overall physical and logical data model and of data relationships,mapping,lineage and business rules + Establish best practices and expected deliverables + Ensures data and information are handled in accordance with established laws,regulations and policies. + Embodies and promotes the Travelers data culture values + Leverages tools,processes and workflows to capture knowledge,find information and maintain its relevance + Actively promotes a knowledge sharing culture and value proposition while generating awareness of initiatives throughout the organization + Designs the creation,maintenance and governance of taxonomies and ensures its applicability to content and/or data + Develop and own project timelines and plans for assigned projects + Provides guidance to less experienced peers. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelors degree in STEM (Science,Technology,Engineering,Mathematics) or Business. + 4 years of relevant experience with data tools,techniques,and manipulation required. **Education,Work Experience,& Knowledge** + Experience performing data analytics and writing moderately complex SQL queries. + Good understanding of Database concepts. + Shows an ability,aptitude,and interest in learning new business workflows and new technologies + Ensures the business meaning behind the data is clear to our development teams,and addresses any needed clarifications in a timely manner + Understands functional use cases and readily extrapolates them into data requirements + Understands how business data can change overtime to ensure this is considered in functional use cases,development and testing + Ensures historical data considerations are discussed when the team delivers new capabilities + Knowledge of Data Management tools,techniques and programing languages + Demonstrates general understanding of overall data models,data relationships,mapping lineage and business rules + Experience with Data Profiling & Data Quality,recommending improvements to best practices + Good knowledge of data management or relevant analytics experience. **Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies** + Possesses strong analytical skills to effectively create recommendations,influence decision-making,assess impacts,compare solutions,problem solve,and achieve business and/or technical objectives.
