Job Description

Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Salt Lake City, UT. Responsible for providing support to the Firm’s critical applications that leverage multiple database platforms, including ensuring the health, performance and availability of systems, achieving the desired outcomes of those applications, and assuming responsibility for performance tuning and database queries. Provide support for SAP ASE/Replication/IQ and IBM DB2 standardization programs from design, development and implementation, including security. Install, configure, upgrade and maintain DB2 and Sybase DBMS environment utilizing database native tools as well as house-grown utilities. Provide production support for DB2 and Sybase systems and work on building the database infrastructure (excluding utilities interfacing with DBMS and Self-service Portal capabilities) globally. Responsible for various operating system and database specific upgrades on the Linux environment. Build automation tools using Python and shell scripting to reduce manual implementation. Enhance existing applications using batch scripting and Perl. Partner and advise application developer clients on instilling best practices and solutions within the applications. Analyze Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and disaster recovery scenarios to ensure critical systems can tolerate failures and have appropriate contingency plans.

 

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role OR Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Must have three (3) years of experience with: SAP ASE,SAP Replication, SAP IQ or IBM DB2 DBA, including experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting; designing and supporting more than one mission critical database server at any given time; using a Linux Operating System, including using UNIX commands to analyze, maintain and develop server-size scripts, shell scripts, and Perl/Python scripts; using SQL, including SQL performance and tuning and diagnosing potential performance issues by analyzing Query execution plans; utilizing the full Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements gathering, design, prioritization, coding, testing, release and support; and performing applications database support, including database design for highly concurrent applications, replication, stored procedures, and troubleshooting.
